- Avoid touching your face, wearing makeup, and putting on hats or headbands for the next 24 hours.
- Do not massage the treated area unless instructed by your provider.
- Try to use the injected muscles for the first 1-2 hours after treatment: practice frowning, raising your eyebrows, and squinting. This helps to work the botulinum toxin into your muscles.
- Avoid tanning, extensive sun, or heat for 24 hours (no sauna, hot tub, or extremely hot showers).
- Do not lie down for the first 4-5 hours following your Neurotoxin appointment
- Avoid vigorous exercise, heavy lifting, or anything that increases your heart rate for the next 24 hours.
- Avoid consuming excess amounts of alcohol and salt on the day of your treatment to avoid swelling.
- If there is bruising at the injection site, ice the area for 10 minutes on, 10 minutes off, and as much as possible for the first 24 hours.
- Avoid facials, massages, and exfoliating the area for one week post-procedure.
- Use Tylenol® (acetaminophen) for headaches or discomfort. No NSAIDs (Ibuprofen® & Aspirin®) for 24 hours as they can increase bleeding.
- If bruising occurs, it typically resolves within 7 to 10 days. After treatment, oral and/or topical Arnica Montana may help reduce bruising and swelling.
- Please follow up 2 weeks post-treatment with your provider for reevaluation and "after" photos. This will help us evaluate the proper dosage for your next treatment. Reminder, it can take approximately 4 to 14 days for desired results to be seen.
Neurotoxins last, on average, 3-4 months. It is recommended at the time of your treatment to schedule your next appointment for optimal anti-aging benefits. The most typical side effects are headache, bruising, swelling, and redness. These are temporary and will resolve.
